Chemistry 2 is an elective science course offered every other year to juniors or seniors who have successfully completed Chemistry 1. Chemistry 2 will again be offered in 2003-2004. After a period of review, Chemistry 2 begins where Chemistry 1 ended and it opens these important topics of inorganic chemistry: acids and bases, pH, titration, reaction kinetics, chemical equilibrium and oxidation/reduction. In addition, Chemistry 2 provides students with an introduction to organic chemistry, biochemistry and nuclear chemistry. Laboratory work and problem solving are important ingredients of this course. This course is more rigorous and, at times, more mathematical than Chemistry 1, but is just as enjoyable. Text: Modern Chemistry (Holt, Rinehart, Winston)
