Award-winning illustrator and author Michael Dooling came to PMCA on Thursday, January 29th. A member of the Society of Illustrators, a graduate of Syracuse University’s MFA program, and a teacher of a course in children’s books at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Mr. Dooling has authored two books Young Thomas Edison and The Great Horseless Carriage Race and illustrated over 50 picture books, chapter books and middle grade novels. Many of the books he illustrated have received starred reviews in Booklist, Hornbook, and School Library Journal.
We were privileged to host Mr. Dooling for the majority of the day during which he spoke to all of the elementary classes explaining the whole process of illustrating a picture book.
