Iowa Testing
Throughout
next week, students will be taking standardized tests. Ninth graders
will be taking the Iowa Tests of Educational Development (ITED's) on
Monday and Tuesday. First through fifth graders will be starting their Iowa Tests
of Basic Skills on Monday, and Middle Schoolers will begin on Tuesday. All tests will be taken during the morning
hours, and testing should be completed by the end of the week.
The best way to prepare for these
tests is to follow your regular routine. Students should go to bed on time, get
a full night’s sleep, have a nutritious breakfast, and bring two sharpened #2
pencils with good erasers. It’s important that they arrive at school on time,
since testing often begins first thing.
Most
students will encounter some questions that are too difficult for them or which ask about material with
which they are not familiar. This is normal, and should not be a cause for
concern for them. No one is expected to know all of the answers to all of the
questions. These tests are used to help us identify how our
students
are performing among local and national groups of similar grades and
ages. They also assist us in reviewing and revising our curriculum to
be more effective
in a changing and challenging academic climate. You can help us
administer
these, not by putting additional stress on the kids, but by encouraging
them
that this is their opportunity to show God, their teachers and their
parents what
great students they really are!
Piano Recital
Classical
pianist John Silva will present a recital tomorrow
at 7 pm in the Hamel Auditorium. The program will include works by
Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy. Bring your friends for an evening of
wonderful music. Admission is free; an offering will be taken to support financial aid for PMCA students.
Please check the PMCA website for possible changes to this event.

Senior Mission Trip -Trolley Car Diner Fundraiser

The Senior Class Mission Trip Team is having its final
restaurant partnership fundraiser at the Trolley Car Diner
in Mt. Airy next Monday, March 1 through Sunday, March 7. Hours are 7 am
- 9 pm on Monday through Friday and 3 pm - 9 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Just print this coupon and bring it with you in order for
the group to receive the proceeds. Note:
the coupon can also be used for take-out.
Why not hit the Trolley Car prior to the school play, Animal Farm, this coming
week on Thursday through Saturday?!
Also, the Mission Team would like to thank everyone for
their support at the Chick-fil-A and Texas Roadhouse fundraisers in the
recent past. Finally, don’t forget to put the evening of March 19 – Fry Bread
and Movie Night – on your calendar. That event, which will be held here at the
school, will be our major and final fund raiser prior to the trip to Arizona.
Thanks!!
