Congratulations, Graduates!

On Friday, June 11, 2010, PMCA held its Fifty-Second Commencement Exercises at New Covenant Church. The thirty-nine full time members of the Class of 2010, seen at left, processed down the aisle to the accompaniment of organ music. Head of School Don Beebe welcomed one and all, and the ceremony began. Parents of graduating seniors contributed prayers and scripture reading at various points during the evening. The students honored their parents by presenting them with roses and boutonnieres, while PMCA parent and grad Joyce Johnson sang Find Your Wings.

Two members of the PMCA Board, Mike Major and John Asher, who were stepping down after significant periods of service, were recognized by Board President Elect Lou Prontnicki. Student awards (see box below) were then presented by members of the faculty and administration. Dan Kless, Salutatorian and recipient of the Board of Trustees Award, addressed his classmates. Following the singing of the school hymn, Dan's father John Kless, pastor of Glenside Bible Church, gave the commencement address, "On Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing'', stressing to the students the importance of keeping God at the center of their lives and building upon Deuteronomy 6:4 & 5.

Diplomas were given to each student by Don Beebe and Mike Major, then the class gathered for a photo op. The class was presented as official graduates, and hats flew into the air, as seen at right. We congratulate the Class of 2010 and pray that they would bring honor to the Lord as they leave PMCA.

Senior Breakfast

On the morning of graduation day, seniors, parents, faculty and staff gathered at New Covenant Church for the annual Senior Breakfast. A buffet meal was provided by O'Neill's Catering and there was a time of shared fellowship.

When everyone had eaten his fill, it was time to recognize students in a number of areas. Scholarships and awards from outside of PMCA were noted. NHS members were given gold tassels to wear on their caps, and National German Honor Society members were given cords to wear. PMCA 'Lifers' who attended from 1st through 12th grades were presented with certificates. Student leaders were recognized and applauded. Christine Bierema was given her Valedictorian Medal and Dan Kless received his Salutatorian Medal. Deanna Stock, at right, was presented with the Barnabas Award, given each year by the PMCA Alumni Association, represented by D'Mont Reese, '84. The event ended with a time of student testimonies and thank yous before the rehearsal for the evening.

Can You Help?

Missionaries David and Eowyn Stoddard and their family will be returning to the US from Germany next week. While David spends two years studying at Westminster Seminary, his five children will be attending PMCA. The Stoddards have two immediate needs - they are looking for a seven passenger vehicle and they are in need of storage space for many of their belongings until August. They will need space at least equivalent to that of a garage. If you can help out in either of these areas, or if you know of someone who can, please contact Eowyn's sister Myriam Hertzog at 215-300-6868 or myriamsophia@gmail.com. Thank you!
