While most of you were enjoying your 5 day, snow-induced, Presidents Day weekend, the Lady Falcons were hard at work, playing ball for the Lord and their school. As they entered into the BAL Tournament, they found themselves at the brink of a daunting task – to win the BAL crown, they would have to go thru the 3 teams that had beaten them earlier in the year. Suffice it to say, the gals soared to the occasion. On Wednesday, they defeated NHS, 44-38, with Jana leading the way with points (19), Keyen with rebounds (13) and Sierra, with her all out hustle on defense. The gals shook off the confusion of Friday’s events to play their best game of the year, pulling out a 20 point turnaround on DelCo, 36-26. Jana had an absolute monster of a game, pouring in 24 points, while grabbing 20 rebounds! Katharine led the defensive effort with play after heads up play, stifling many a fast break attempt by the Lady Knights. All of which set up yet another anticipated match up, this time against the 21-2 Lower Moreland Lions. Tension was high as each team struggled to find a rhythm offensively, and the girls found themselves tied at 22 going into the 4th , thanks to a very well executed and calm left hand layup by Lauren to close out the frame. Tracey helped us gain the lead back for good, with a strong finish inside, then helped her big sister ice the game with 2 huge free throws down the stretch. Keyen picked up the slack early and late, scoring 7 of our first 8 points of the game and combining with Jana to go 7 for 8 at the line to seal the deal. In the end, the 33-25 victory earned the first ever Lady Falcon BAL championship!! PRAISE BE TO GOD!
